Congratulations to all who completed their 8-week course today. Some of us had some fun running in a group – the attendance was thin but those who participated completed their runs and I am extremely proud of them. Not to mention the sumptuous breakfast after the run at Adigas – Thanks Srini.
So, what next is the question I got from all quarters.
If you want to maintain current level of fitness then continue to walk run as you did in last few weeks of the 8-week course – basically do this for about 30 to 40 minutes 4 to 5 days a week. You may increase the overall duration by another 30 to 20 minutes to do a full hour of walk run but increase that gradually over the next 4 to 5 weeks. Don’t forget to take 2 days of rest in between. REST is equally important as exercise as it helps the body to recover and get refreshed for another day of exercise. This will take enable you to participate in events between 5k and 10k.
If you want to train more and are wanted to take up running as a serious sport then I would suggest you join one of the running groups – there is one which operates from many places including Jayanagar and is well supported by coaches is www.runnershigh.in the other is called Jayanagar Jaguars (search for it in FB and you should be able to located this group).
My current focus is beginners and if I do a program for 10k and beyond, I will let you know.
Keep running – stay healthy and eat sensibly!
